why?

To inspire a lifestyle of faith in action.

more detail...

Why we felt the need to set-up Formation Ministries is probably the most important question we can answer.

We believe that being a Christian and sharing the gospel are inseparable. To call ourselves “Christians”—meaning “mini Christs”—is to proclaim that we strive to live like Jesus lived when He was on earth. This conviction led us to reflect deeply: does the title “Christian” truly align with how we live?

We prayerfully considered what it means to be a Christian in our everyday contexts and spaces we occupy and as we studied Jesus’ life, it became clear that He consistently prioritised sharing God’s love, calling people to repentance, and restoring their relationship with the Father. After understanding more fully that God's will truly is "good, pleasing and perfect" (Romans 12:2) we sought greater nourishment for our ever increasing hunger to learn more about our unified calling to tell the world about God's redemptive plan for every life.

However, we noticed a problem: many churches and Christian communities were not emphasizing this critical pursuit of Christlikeness. James 2:26 reminds us that “faith without works is dead.” Formation Ministries exists to challenge believers to think critically about what it means to follow Christ and to inspire a lifestyle of faith in action - faith that works.

Jesus' final command to the disciples during His time on earth; to, "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19)  is one that applies to everyone who claims to follow Jesus. As a result, the only appropriate response to this command is, "yes Lord".

We encourage believers to use their unique gifts and talents to reach others for Christ and believe that every gift and talent can be used for evangelism. As Paul writes, “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14-15).

We also acknowledge that all we do is by God’s grace because we, like every human life were, "once dead in our sins" (Ephesians 2:10). It’s not about adding His power to our efforts but recognising its His mercy and kindness that enables everything we do.

Formation Ministries aims to help you to proclaim "yes Lord" to the call to share the gospel in any context, to every person - to fulfil the great commission, one person at a time.

the name

We are constantly being influenced by the people and environments around us, often without realising their true impact. Formation ministries exists to restore awareness of these influences and to ask: what are we being formed by and who are we being formed into?

As our name suggests, we aim to guide Christians on their journey of being formed into Christlikeness.
Through a discipleship-focused approach to evangelism training, we seek to help you deepen your understanding of who God is and who He created you to be.
We believe that as you grow in this understanding, you will naturally develop a greater desire to share His "good news" with everyone around you.
